Revelstoke Mountain Resort opened in December 2007, becoming North America’s newest four‐season destination resort. Based on SE GROUP’s master plan, the completed resort will offer 6,000 vertical feet of skiing, more than any resort in North America, as well as lodging for 15,000 guests. SE GROUP has been an integral member of the design team of Revelstoke Mountain Resort since the early 1990s, responsible for mountain planning and design, market analyses, permitting and entitlements, and ski‐in/ski‐out real estate design. Recognizing that the new resort will compete with other regional facilities, SE GROUP was asked to prepare a skier visitation impact analysis for submittal to the British Columbia government. The study focused on analyzing skier visit trends for the province and projection of visitation for the new resort, looking at short and long‐term impacts to competitor resorts in the marketplace. Skier visits during Revelstoke Mountain Resort’s debut season exceeded expectations and additional lifts and base area facilities are currently under construction.
