Master Development Plan
Environmental Impact Statement
Working with the Sun Valley Company and the Sawtooth National Forest, SE Group prepared an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) analyzing Phase 1 of the three-phase 2005 Sun Valley Master Plan. Phase 1 projects at the Bald Mountain portion of the resort include: a new gondola, additional snowmaking infrastructure, renovations to the historic Roundhouse Restaurant, additional ski terrain and installation of a terrain park. Opened to the public in 1936, Sun Valley was America’s first premiere destination ski resort, and over the decades has earned a reputation throughout the ski industry as setting the standard for the four-season, destination resort experience. While the Phase 1 proposals are straightforward in nature, Sun Valley loyalists are particularly proud of their mountain, and therefore the upcoming Draft EIS provides in-depth analysis of a range of issues – from the potential impacts of constructing a new terrain park on traditional ski terrain to the aesthetic and acoustic impacts of creating new trails and snowmaking.
