SE GROUP’s involvement with the development of Tamarack Resort started in 1988, when the project was known as “Valbois” and ski lifts and trails were planned to be developed on National Forest lands in Idaho. When the current developer group became involved in the project in 1998, SE recommended shifting the ski resort onto adjacent State of Idaho lands in order to avoid the challenging federal approvals process. Over the following six years SE GROUP played an integral role on the design team by preparing the mountain master plan, ski lifts and run design, operations program, and contributing to the village and real estate planning. In support of the State and county permitting and approvals process we provided market, economic, socio-economic and financial analyses and projections, summer operations and construction plans, the surface water management plan, environmental permitting, and general consulting and expert testimony related to the State land leasing agreement. The year prior to Tamarack’s grand opening in December 2004, our contributions to the aggressive construction schedule included field layout of lifts and runs, preparation of the site specific vegetation management and erosion control plan, base area design and grading plans, lift bid specifications and on-site construction monitoring.
SE GROUP feels privileged to have participated in this team effort leading to the landmark event of the first major four-season resort to open in North America in over twenty years.
